ApprenticeConnect is a new Catalyst Careers initiative being developed to create stronger connections between young people interested in apprenticeships, schools and employers recruiting apprentice talent.

The aim is to make apprenticeship opportunities easier to understand, easier to access and easier for employers and potential apprentices to find one another.

Why ApprenticeConnect?

For students considering university, there is a well-established pathway through the CAO.

For students considering an apprenticeship, the route can be less straightforward. Opportunities may depend on individual employers, recruitment timelines can vary, and students may not always know where to find suitable vacancies or how to approach employers.

At the same time, employers recruiting apprentices need access to young people who understand the pathway and are genuinely interested in apprenticeship careers.

ApprenticeConnect is being developed to help improve that connection.

For Future Apprentices

ApprenticeConnect will support young people who are considering an apprenticeship and want a clearer route towards suitable opportunities.

The initiative is being designed to help students:

  • better understand apprenticeship pathways

  • identify opportunities that match their interests

  • connect with employers recruiting apprentices

  • prepare for the apprenticeship recruitment process

  • make informed decisions about apprenticeship, further education and other post-school options

For Schools

ApprenticeConnect is also being developed as a practical resource for schools supporting students who are considering apprenticeship pathways.

The aim is to strengthen the link between career guidance in school and real apprenticeship opportunities with employers.

For Employers

For employers, ApprenticeConnect will provide a way to engage with young people who are actively considering apprenticeship careers.

The initiative is being designed to support employers in:

  • promoting apprenticeship opportunities to suitable students

  • building stronger links with schools

  • increasing awareness of apprenticeship careers

  • connecting with potential applicants

  • strengthening the early stages of apprentice recruitment
